We’re seeking a dedicated and skilled Gynaecology Oncology Senior Registrar to join our team. Based across Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional Hospitals, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to holistic, culturally safe care for women and families across the Northern Territory.

The Role

As the Gynaecology Oncology Senior Registrar, you will support the Obstetrics and Gynaecology departments to provide high-quality care. This is a unique opportunity to build your surgical skills and deepen your knowledge of gynaecological oncology within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

You'll gain experience in perioperative care and oncological management, while continuing to develop your general Gynaecology and Oncology skills through participation in the on-call roster. A core component of this role involves coordinating the Discordant Cytology meeting and managing pre-invasive disease. It’s also encouraged to identify and contribute to research projects during your placement.

This position is ideal for a Registrar considering a future in gynaecological oncology or aiming to enhance their surgical skills in preparation for a role as a Regional Specialist or in low-resource settings.

Key Duties

  1. Provide inpatient and outpatient care to patients across antenatal, postnatal, gynaecology services including labour ward and reproductive health services
  2. Provide perioperative and operative care including follow up for specialist gynaecological patients
  3. Participate in afterhours work including rostered night and weekend shifts, on-call and outreach services
  4. If appropriately credentialed, participate in the consultant roster (with support from another consultant)
  5. Supervise, support and evaluate junior doctors and contribute to medical student education
  6. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling.
  7. Take on leadership roles including, rostering, supporting junior staff wellbeing and chairing registrar meetings.

Engage in ongoing education and professional development, research, audits and quality improvement.

About you

You’re a passionate and committed clinician with a strong interest in advancing First Nations women’s health and improving outcomes in rural and remote healthcare settings. To be successful in this role you will:

  1. Be eligible for general registration with the Medical Board of Australia;
  2. Have completed basic RANZCOG training and now eligible to complete advanced RANZCOG training years 5 and or 6
  3. Have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact positively as a team member in a cross-cultural work environment.
