Job Description

We are looking for a Part Time/Full Time Head Nurse who has strong communication and team building skills and previous experience leading and motivating a high functioning nursing team.

The team, clients and patients at Kangaroo Flat are very down to earth, we are positive, easy going and professional. Whether it’s cuddling with patients, talking with clients, or diving into a challenging surgery, we work together as a team to make a difference in the lives of our furry friends and their families.

The responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Managing a team of Vet Nurses and supporting busy Vets
  • Guiding and developing the Nurse team, building a positive team culture
  • Undertaking general nursing tasks, including team based consulting, pathology, surgical nursing, administration duties and emergency and critical care
  • Taking initiative to enhance clinic operations and efficiency
  • Collaborating with the veterinary team to ensure high standards of patient care
  • Handling client enquiries professionally in person, by email and over the phone
  • Managing stock inventory to enable high quality of patient care
  • Organising maintenance and repairs of equipment in conjunction with the practice manager

Our ideal candidate:

We are looking for a person who is proudly professional and passionate about nursing, maintaining clinical standards, driving improvement, fear free/stress free handling and making sure that every animal who crosses our doorstep gets the best possible standard of care!

  • Holds a Cert IV qualification in Veterinary Nursing with minimum of 3+ years of experience
  • Experience coaching and mentoring Vet Nurses
  • Possesses strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong knowledge of surgical nursing techniques and procedures
  • A calm and friendly presence
  • Great communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible and adaptable within a team environment
  • Knowledge of RX Works ideal but not essential
